Helping surgeons see the invisible with a universal near-infrared fluorescent coating
Founded in March 2024, AstraNICE develops an innovative fluorescent coating for surgical instruments, based on five years of academic research. This patented technology, called NICE (Near-Infrared Coating of Equipment), is a biocompatible polymer that produces intense near-infrared fluorescence, enabling real-time visualization of instruments beneath tissue up to 1 cm deep. AstraNICE aims to improve the safety and effectiveness of surgical procedures by partnering with medical device manufacturers to integrate this coating into their products. Its main customers are surgical equipment manufacturers, and its potential competitors include other companies developing technologies for image-guided surgery.
